Wilmington Was A Big Success

We had a great time in Wilmington at the 2012 Annual Convention. The Open Space sessions were full of energy, enthusiasm and ideas and have generated new action among our committees, and even new committees. The business of the Institute was conducted and much was accomplished at the House of Delegates Session and the Board Meeting.

All of the hospitality events were fantastic. The Wilmington Society did themselves proud with the reception aboard the U.S.S. North Carolina. What a unique and interesting venue! The reception at the Bellamy Mansion was a step back in time, complete with period costumed docents to share the Mansion's history with us. The spouses report enjoying their visit to Poplar Plantation and especially the cooking class, and some spouses were brave enough to participate in the improv theater class.

The architectural tour took us down historic streets lined with beautiful period homes and into several beautiful residences. Even though the rain "dampened" our walking tour, we all had fun.

It was nice to have Jim Vann back as the host of the Awards Banquet. He keeps us laughing with his spot-on quips. Congratulations to Willie Dalrymple on being named Designer of the Year. Well-deserved, Willie, for all your hard work. And congratulations to all the designers who received awards in the 2012 competition.
